Donkey Shotty
Sean Alexander Fisher received a grant for the development of Donkey Shotty. The wind-powered 16mm film was made by a hand-built camera rig, fitted with gears, propeller blades, and a disc brake that is both a sculptural object and a working tool. Filming turns into a performance shaped by the wind, as Fisher wrestles with mechanics, humour, and chance. The result is a film shot in Spain and a camera that questions how cinema can be made in a time dominated by AI and digital processes.
Sean is an artist and engineer working across film, sculpture, and installation. With a background in mechanical engineering and studies at The Glasgow School of Art and Design Academy Eindhoven, his practice explores how systems are built, tested, and adapted. He focuses on transformation in materials, machines, and ideas, often through humour and absurdity, and draws on fringe engineering cultures, ecological shifts, and time to create works where mechanics and performance meet.
