Farah Coppola

Farah Coppola received a grant to develop a multimedia storytelling performance in which she explores the complex relationship with her father. When Farah was ten, she moved to the Netherlands with her mother, while her father remained in Sicily. Years later, she discovered that her father is considered a local hero there for his anti-Mafia efforts as a writer and publisher. Farah seeks to understand who her father was — and how he lives on in her. In this performance, she sets out in search of answers by returning to Sicily and interviewing her father’s friends and colleagues. This investigation into human duality and the complexity of good and evil lies at the heart of her performance, offering a poignant reflection on identity, regret, and the Mafia.

Farah was raised in Sicily by a Sicilian father and a French mother. At the age of ten, she began a new chapter in the Netherlands. In 2021, she completed the Mezrab Storytelling School and began sharing her stories at festivals such as Amsterdam Fringe, Brighton Fringe, and the Amsterdam Storytelling Festival.
In her storytelling practice, Farah seeks direct connection with the audience, dissolving the fourth wall. She combines the beauty of everyday moments with the emotional depth of human experience. Her stories revolve around themes such as love, family, motherhood, and the unexpected adventures that shape her personal journey.
