ILSNA: Songs and Stories of Lovers
Ruth Borg received support for the development of a performance project. ILSNA: Songs and Stories of Lovers is a participatory performance that deepens awareness of love—towards yourself and others. Rooted in the Maltese word ILSNA (tongues/languages), it celebrates singing, speaking, and connecting through shared dialogue about intimate love and relationships. Led by performer Ruth Borg, this two-hour gathering features original Maltese songs, reflective texts on love, and an open conversation in which the audience is invited to collectively explore the depths of love.
Ruth Borg is a performance artist based in Amsterdam. She works across disciplines as a performer, vocalist, maker, and facilitator. She creates work and spaces that remind us of liberation and joy, where these have been buried under excessive domestication and various forms of domination. Ruth uses her body, voice, and connections with others to seed works that nourish the world where it is starved. In 2015, she obtained her B.A. (Hons) in Theatre Studies from the University of Malta, and four years ago she completed a B.A. in Mime at the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam. She has performed both locally and internationally with various collectives, companies, and her own work. Past collaborations include Julian Hetzel, Davy Pieters, and Punchdrunk (UK).
