Gij die gestorven zijt
Guus Møystad received support for writing a new book. In the graphic novel Gij die gestorven zijt, Guus seeks to intertwine personal and global narratives: on the one hand, his faith and personal grief after losing his grandparents and an aunt to dementia. On the other, the consequences of large-scale catastrophes such as pandemics and the looming climate crisis, and how these affect our relationship with death, mourning, and the world around us.
Guus is a visual artist, writer, and storyteller based in Amsterdam. He is a chaotic blend of identities that never fully settle. This chaos carries over into his work, where narrative, text, image, truth, and fiction intertwine and manifest across various art forms. Drawing from history, fantasy, and folklore, he is fascinated by liminality — the in-between spaces between individual and community, inclusion and exclusion, tradition and renewal — and by the boundaries and vulnerabilities of the body. His comics and illustrations have appeared in a range of print and online publications, including De Lage Landen, Stripgids, and Hard//Hoofd. He also self-publishes his work and produces the cyberzine Brieven uit Skemer.
