Pressure Points

Ignacy Radtke

Ignacy Radtke received a grant for the development of new a new sculptural project. Pressure Points explores how physical pressure can support emotional regulation, particularly within neurodivergent experiences. Drawing on a personal memory and research into Deep Pressure Stimulation (DPS), the project reimagines high-performance materials, like carbon fiber and polyurethane, not to enhance speed or strength, but to offer calm, containment, and care. Through interviews with neurodivergent individuals, it seeks to reflect diverse sensory needs and challenge the cultural obsession with optimization by creating a new kind of high performance installation/object, one that supports emotional presence rather than output.

Ignacy Radtke is a visual artist currently living and working in Amsterdam. His multidisciplinary practice focuses on installations and objects that challenge reality, blurring the line between the familiar and the illusionary. Drawing from personal experiences and a neurodivergent perspective, his work explores themes like emotional ambivalence, adolescence, and social constructs. Ignacy is a sensory explorer and his works are known for their high precise execution and neat finish.
