The chair, the wig and the sheep
The chair, the wig and the sheep: The portable universe is an interactive peep-show performance that blends socially critical surrealism with visual storytelling. In the fictional world of Sheep Industries, a country is ruled by the dubious CEO Mr. Sheep, where furniture are human acrobats, teenagers craft their brand identity with a wig and a catchy name, and the government awards prizes through competitive Wig Games.
At the heart of the story is Gossipin’ Jocelyn, a 16-year-old freelance furniture acrobat struggling with uncertain income, unpaid invoices, and the care of her father. Her disillusionment grows until she meets The Bald Ones—a group of rebels who challenge her to see the world differently.
Rosa Vrij takes the audience into this universe through a portable suitcase that unfolds into a miniature exhibition featuring handmade miniatures, comic strip drawings, and documents. The performance is a cross-pollination of miniature exhibition, storytelling, graphic novel, and tabletop RPG, and a tribute to the power of imagination.
The premiere takes place during the Eendracht Festival, as part of the Axolotl route. Admission is free.
