De Nijverheid X Amarte
This summer, Amarte is once again collaborating with De Nijverheid to offer three short, intensive duo residencies for performative makers, focused on interdisciplinary work on-site. Through an open call, three duos were paired together. The third duo consists of Sarah Zechut and Maggie Khorrami.
On September 4th, De Nijverheid will host a collective exhibition reception. Following the reception, Sarah and Maggie will present the performance they developed during their residency.
Maggie Khorrami
Maggie is an experimental musician, sound artist, and sound technician based in the Netherlands. She studied Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and has a background in classical violin and visual arts. Her work integrates composition, performance, light installation, and interactive systems, with the body and its experience at the core. She explores movement as a form of musical expression and uses technology as an extension of her artistic language. This creates performative environments where sound, movement, and light continuously interact, influencing how the audience perceives the space, music, and performance.
Her music consists of layered, dark electronic soundscapes, where her voice seamlessly blends with self-built instruments. She draws inspiration from societal unrest, political and social developments, and the complexity of human relationships. From these themes, she crafts musical experiences that allow for emotional depth and ambiguity.
Sarah Zechut
Sarah is a dance artist and performer working at the intersection of contemporary dance and physical theater. Through research, choreography, and physicality, she develops her own material and characters. Her performances unfold as a shared journey, gradually guiding performers and audiences through various physical, emotional, and psychological states.
She is interested in creating worlds and pushing the boundaries of theater, connecting dance with other disciplines. She seeks new ways to shape stories, worlds, and experiences.
