Pembe & Eflatun is a short sand-animated film set in the aftermath of war, in a landscape marked by extreme drought and food scarcity. The story centres on the innkeeper couple, Pembe and Eflatun, who offer shelter to a group of stranded refugee women and children. As the newcomers settle into the inn, hidden aspects of the couple’s past and their management of the building (formerly a prison, now an inn) gradually come to light.

The film is based on the short story Pembe ve Eflatun by Hande Ortaç, which was awarded first prize in the Woman to Woman Story Competition organised by KAOS GL (Kaos Gay and Lesbian Cultural Research and Solidarity Association), one of the largest LGBTQ+ rights organisations in Turkey. The film premieres at the Kaboom Animation Festival.
