Gallinazo

The short film Gallinazo by Daniel Jacoby has been nominated for the Golden Calf Competition in the Short Documentary category. Its Dutch premiere will take place during the Netherlands Film Festival.

In Gallinazo, director Daniel Jacoby returns to an exclusive beach club in Lima at three pivotal moments in his life. Each visit reveals new contradictions beneath its seemingly unchanged surface. Centuries earlier, a European naturalist collapses on the same shore and is visited by the vulture he has just reclassified. What unfolds on that shore exposes a bias that will outlast them both.

Daniel is a Peruvian visual artist and filmmaker based in Amsterdam. His work moves at the intersection of film, sculpture, and installation.
