Tim in een tasje

Albert Meijer received a grant for the development of a new theatre performance. Tim in een tasje is a musical cabaret show in which Albert, through tender songs and sharp humour, takes the audience on a personal journey about grief and friendship.

Albert is a cabaret artist, singer-songwriter and theatre maker. He previously created two short solo shows: Plakjes, which won both the jury and audience awards at the Amsterdam Student Cabaret Festival, and Plukjes, described by Theaterkrant as “at once disarmingly funny and immensely sad.” Together with his best friend Tim Meijerink, he formed the Utrecht-based queer cabaret duo Het Verdriet van Drenthe. Although the duo never achieved major success, they had great fun — until Tim passed away unexpectedly in 2023. Since then, Albert has been writing songs and stories about death, grief, loss, and the strange yet persistent urge to make jokes about it.
