senakirfa A.

senakirfa A. received a grant to carry out interdisciplinary artistic research into the materialisation of oral traditions from the Ghanese-Asante cultural heritage. Through sculpture and sonic installations, the project explores a contemporary relationship to the Twi language, with Nnwomkoro (a collective singing tradition) and the Atumpan drum as central points of reference. The works address themes such as (mother) tongue, multilingualism, collective memory, and translation, and take shape through an interdisciplinary combination of sound vessels cast in bronze and brass and MIDI-controlled hi-fi sound systems, bringing tradition and technology together.

senakirfa A. is an interdisciplinary artist, born and based in Amsterdam. A.’s practice encompasses sculpture, poetry, and sound, and examines the materialisation and histories of oral traditions. Recent works include ft. (2025) with S*an D.
