BEELZEBUB

Anna van der Velde

Anna van der Velde received a grant for the development of BEELZEBUB, an interdisciplinary and immersive art experience that makes the sensation of being swallowed by dark thoughts tangible. After its premiere in Berlin, the project enters a new chapter in the form of a VR translation. Here, film, sound, scenography, and performance merge into an intimate, personal journey in which the viewer can navigate at their own pace. In this virtual environment, a universe balances between fear and beauty, with drones serving as symbols of inner demons and the overwhelming presence of technology. VR is not used to follow the pace of the digital world but rather to slow it down: a digital space that enables silence and reflection.

Anna is a multidisciplinary artist and film director who creates immersive, sensory worlds at the intersection of visual art, film, performance, and sound. With existential themes such as grief, mental complexity, and the relationship between humans and nature, her work invites audiences to fully immerse themselves in an experience that touches both head and heart. Her projects, including the award-winning immersive exhibition BEELZEBUB, connect disciplines to make deeper emotional layers perceptible.
