Vlucht
Marieke Elzerman received a grant to develop the film Vlucht: an intimate, character-driven short film about control, vulnerability, and connection. Mélie, a strict primary school teacher, is confronted with the limits of control in both her personal and professional life. Through small gestures, handwritten letters, and shared moments of attention, she learns to slow down, to listen, and to allow genuine closeness. The film explores how intimacy and communication take shape in a fast-paced, distanced world.
Marieke completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in filmmaking at KASK Royal School of Arts in Ghent and pursued further studies at the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola in San Sebastián. Her films, including Come Here, La Voz Rosa, and Spel, have been screened and awarded internationally at festivals such as IndieLisboa, Krakow, Leuven, and the International Film Festival Rotterdam. She was selected for the Locarno Filmmakers Academy in 2022 and the Ikusmira Berriak residency in 2024. She is currently developing her first feature film, Wash Over. Her short film Vlucht won the GoShort Pitch Award in 2025.
