Like the Last Day

Rana Safiyari received a grant for the development of a new film. Like the Last Day is an artistic short film about a forbidden love between two women and the far-reaching consequences of living under an oppressive regime. It is an intimate and courageous story about identity, desire, and the impossibility of being who you truly are. With this film, Rana seeks to give voice to stories that are rarely visible, yet all the more urgent to be told.

Rana is an Iranian filmmaker with the ambition to share personal and pressing stories from her country and culture with an international audience. She has previously directed several short films, including Friend, which was selected for various national and international film festivals (including the Imagine Fantastic Film Festival in Amsterdam). Through her work, Rana positions herself as a bold new female voice within Iranian cinema.
