Performance Base

Jeanette Bisschops

Jeanette Bisschops received a grant for the development of Performance Base: a digital index of one hundred curated performance works, supplemented through an open submission portal. By allowing users to search performances based on movement and sound, the platform offers new ways to discover works, alongside traditional search methods like title or creator. The platform is freely accessible to everyone.

Jeanette is an independent curator, researcher, and writer. She has worked with the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, New Museum, and Performa, and contributes to publications such as frieze, Flash Art, Metropolis M, and Cultured Magazine. In 2024, she launched Performance Talks, a series of conversations about the afterlives of performance. Her work operates at the intersection of performance and digital culture. With Performance Base, she is building a digital index that makes performance searchable by movement and sound.
