Nothing Broken, Nothing Lost
Baroeg Mulder received a grant for the development of new work. Nothing Broken, Nothing Lost is a performance installation that investigates and reactivates a vacant data centre through the use of live video, sound, and spatial interventions. Together, these elements create a compact ecosystem in which filming, recording, producing, and looking continuously merge. Rather than seeking the spectacular, the work focuses on seemingly small details (a cut cable, an echo in an empty hall, a dust pattern in a stairwell) that unexpectedly reveal larger narratives and themes.
Baroeg’s practice is characterised by an open, observational approach to his surroundings. He turns his attention to what is often forgotten, overlooked, or considered insignificant, exploring how such elements can regain meaning. In doing so, he activates the poetic potential of everyday situations and spaces. Through composed video, text, and other framing techniques, he creates new ways of reading and interpreting these environments.
