Robin Coops received a grant to develop a theatrical concert. In Exoplanets, Coops explores utopian thinking through his alter ego, Sage. Using AI-generated music and visual samples, he draws on a database of the past to discover new forms for the future. As Earth’s habitability comes increasingly under threat, it is Sage’s mission — as the first AI astronaut — to search for alternative life-sustaining worlds or gather information about non-human forms of life. Through music and theatre, Sage reports back to us, Earth’s inhabitants, like an intergalactic tour guide.

Robin is a director, composer, and performer who creates immersive, music-driven experiences. Moving between film, opera, and concert formats, he collaborates with a range of organisations. Exoplanets is a concert in which his compositions merge with his fascination for theatrical forms and his ongoing research into the dialogue between new technologies and the performing arts.
