De Baarvader

Reinier van Harten received a grant for the development of De Baarvader: a personal and interdisciplinary exploration of the desire to carry a child oneself, while that is physically impossible. In this performance, I use music, movement, theatre and literature to examine how gender, parenthood and embodiment can be expressed beyond binary thinking. Together with scenography, choreography and dramaturgy, I am developing a new language to make this intimate story tangibly present in a public context.

Reinier van Harten, working under the name REINDIER, creates multidisciplinary performances at the intersection of music, theatre and technology. On stage, he combines melancholic vocals, experimental instruments, immersive visuals and confrontational texts.
