XILLAN

XILLAN

Xillan Macrooy (XILLAN) received a contribution to develop a live performance. Xillan was born in Paramaribo, where he grew up between two worlds. On the one hand, Surinamese culture; a rich mix with roots in Africa, Indonesia and India, among others, and on the other, his American and European musical heroes. The music that emerges from this mix is what makes XILLAN the artist he is.

Surinamese-Dutch singer-songwriter XILLAN makes alternative R&B that is challenging in its intimacy. Under the label of alternative R&B, XILLAN does not allow himself to be limited but embraces his eclectic influences. XILLAN's music is characterised by duality and a unique, poetic view of the world. Comparable to artists like Omar Apollo, Steve Lacy and Daniel Caesar and reflecting XILLAN's own multiple cultural background, it creates an authentic sound that reflects contemporary times.
