Run Into The Apocalypse
Rita Brancato received a grant for the development of new music. Run Into The Apocalypse is a collective exploration of the possibilities of electronics. A trio of drums, saxophone and bass clarinet takes up the challenge of manipulating their acoustic textures with digital and analog sound processors, losing themselves along a never ending path, until they find each other again merging into one single entity of grooves, melodies and unexpected sounds.
Rita, drummer and composer, inquires about emancipation of drums between jazz and electronic, with an open ear to natural timbres. Eager of challenges and driven by an insatiable curiosity, she fills her artistic practices with musical inputs that range from mediterranean folk music to mainstream modern jazz, merging them with an active reflection on socio-philosophical themes such as eco-feminism, rage, alienation in modern times and informing them with her own experience as a queer woman in music.
