Jurassic Park – Digital Warder Flute

Itai Weissman received a grant to develop new music. In his project Jurassic Park – Digital Warder Flute, he revives one of Europe’s oldest flutes. Weissman creates a digital version of the Warder Flute (a historical instrument discovered in the former Zuiderzee) and performs it live using an EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument). Through this project, he explores how the sound of a 16th-century instrument can clash and merge with his own musical language, rooted in jazz, electronics, and improvisation. With support from Amarte, he is working on new compositions, rehearsals, and the first recordings centered around this unique, revived instrument.

Itai is a saxophonist, EWI player, and founder of DGTAL REVIVAL. Drawing from jazz and electronic music, he investigates how historical, often unplayable instruments can resonate in the present. Using digital reconstruction, improvisation, and sound design, he builds new worlds from ancient sounds. His work spans stages, studios, and museums, forging connections between musicians, instrument makers, and heritage institutions.
