Hoe de waanzin uit het bos verdween
Kirsten van Santen received a grant for writing a new book. In this book, the journalist and anthropologist delves into the history of the forest of her childhood: the forest of Den Dolder, inhabited by the psychiatric patients of the Willem Arntsz Hoeve. What kept drawing her father to this institution? And what exactly happened in those pavilions hidden among the trees?
Kirsten is a writer, cultural editor, moderator, and cultural anthropologist. She publishes columns, short stories, and interviews, and made her debut in 2022 with the literary non-fiction book Water Pakken (Atlas Contact). She is also a copywriter for art platform De Utrecht in Leeuwarden and hosts literary festivals, including those organised by the libraries in Harlingen and Dokkum, as well as Meet me at the Lighthouse on Schiermonnikoog.
