De vrouw die zichzelf ontketende

Tatjana Almuli

Tatjana Almuli received a grant to write a powerful novel about the complex experience of abortion and the search for freedom in a world where women may be allowed to choose, but are not always taught how to live with those choices. Her story weaves together personal struggles with societal themes such as self-determination, reason versus emotion, and the uneasy experience of inhabiting a body. With De vrouw die zichzelf ontketende, Almuli takes a new step in her authorship, combining social urgency with literary depth and experimental forms of storytelling.

Tatjana is a writer, photographer, and presenter. She has published essays in de Volkskrant, Het Parool, Vogue, ELLE, and is a columnist for Flow. Her books Knap voor een dik meisje (2019) and Ik zal je nooit meer (2022) were both nominated for the Opzij Literature Prize. Together with writer Malou Holshuijsen, she produces the weekly podcast Tussen dertig en doodgaan. She is also the presenter of the online VPRO series Dikke vette leugens.
