Sonja van Hamel received a grant to develop a sensory film about love, letting go, and the fragile boundary between who we are and who we become through one another. Fifty years later, a daughter retraces her mother’s footsteps to Paris in order to unravel the secret that connects their lives.

Sonja is a musician, filmmaker and graphic designer. In her work, she explores how personal stories can be told in ways that resonate universally. Her cinematic projects operate at the intersection of music, film and performance, and examine the boundary between documentary, fiction and poetry.
