Tahdig

Marzieh Rasekh

Marzieh Rasekh received a grant for the development of a new film. Tahdig is a short animated film about a young Iranian girl navigating family gatherings. Using tahdig, the golden, crispy rice at the bottom of the pot, as a metaphor, the film explores unspoken rules, childhood curiosity, and the quiet lessons of tradition. Mixing imagination, humor, and warmth, it reveals the layers beneath everyday life and small moments of growing awareness.

Marzieh is an Iranian 2D animator and illustrator based in the Netherlands. Her work often draws from childhood memories and everyday observations to explore subtle social dynamics with humor and sensitivity. She graduated from the Master Animation program at St. Joost School of Art & Design in 2023 with her short film Let’s Play. Through animation, she is interested in telling intimate stories that connect personal experience with broader cultural questions.
