KOE

Flo Meijer

Flo Meijer received a grant to develop the film KOE. The story follows the life of Lux and her favorite cow Goldie. They live with Lux's father and 52 other cows on a dairy farm. Lux and Goldie have one thing in common; they both feel lonely. Lux because she has no friends; her classmates think it's just weird that Lux's best friend is a cow. Goldie misses her calf that was taken away from her shortly after birth. The girls in Lux's class are all on horseback riding. In an effort to fit in, Lux also wants a horse to go horseback riding with. Her father thinks this is nonsense so Lux starts looking for an alternative: she teaches herself to ride Goldie.

Flo graduated cum laude from Central Saint Martins art school in London in 2021. Instead of filming grand, extraordinary events, Flo's films explore the absurdity of normal and everyday life. Small stories that are normally overlooked. Stories about the boy who buys his own prize cups to make himself feel like a winner, about the girl who wants to own a pair of Prada shoes at any cost, about two best friends who are saving together for a gold-friendship tooth or about the girl who tries to earn her pocket money by reselling polaroids she made of people's homes.
