Jeroen Kooijmans received a grant to develop his new autobiographical film. As he delves into his own experiences with psychosis, Jeroen uncovers a hidden family history of sexual abuse and mental struggles — forcing him to confront the boundaries of inherited trauma and the silence surrounding generational demons.
Jeroen is an artist and filmmaker whose work exists at the intersection of visual art and cinema. With a passion for visual storytelling and a distinct artistic vision, he has built a multifaceted career that weaves together fine art and film. He is known for his innovative approach to the medium, continuously pushing boundaries and exploring new forms of expression. Jeroen places strong emphasis on the poetic dimension of his work, creating subtle and layered narratives that invite viewers into reflection and introspection. He received the NPS Culture Prize in 1998 and participated in the prestigious PS1/MoMA studio programme in New York in 2001–2002. In 2022, he was given the opportunity to create his first feature film through De Verbeelding, a collaboration between the Dutch Film Fund and the Mondriaan Fund. His most recent film, Love-22-Love, is a moving story about love and darkness, set to premiere in cinemas at the end of 2025.
