Benevolences

Ugo Petronin received a grant for the development of a new film. Benevolences is a fiction film based on personal experience of sleep deprivation and parenthood. It explores how exhaustion, trauma, and love transform perception, blurring reality and dreams. Integrating elements inspired by the Dutch Colonies of Benevolence, it questions care, responsibility, and the legacy of colonial ideals, turning personal crises into a surreal, emotional journey of resilience and connection.

Ugo is a French artist and filmmaker based in Rotterdam. Using experimental cinematography, he makes films that turn abstract ideas into sensory experiences.
