Ruben Raven received a grant to develop a new work. In this period of development, Ruben explores the intriguing concept of crochet, an ancient weaving technique that undergoes a striking transformation under his approach. His self-designed creations find expression in paintings, which innovatively portray the subtle fragility and profound symbolism of the material.

Ruben's work is translated into various disciplines, including installations, paintings, videos, ceramic and mechanical designs. He observes how relationships between people, objects and materials unfold. He assembles these interrelationships into collections that exhibit behaviors and question people's unconscious creative capacity. In his practice, he explores or fantasizes about how objects or materials evolve in the urban environment when they lose their primary interest to the general public. He seeks ways to present these concepts in his projects.
