Donkey Shotty
Sean Alexander Fisher received a grant for developing new work. Donkey Shotty is an experimental film project merging sustainable mechanics with cinematic history. Drawing inspiration from wind-powered technology and classic film apparatus, Sean is developing a custom-built system to power a Bolex H16 camera using only wind energy. By reimagining outdated tools through renewable energy, the project challenges conventional filmmaking methods while exploring themes of transformation, resourcefulness, and the poetic relationship between technology and nature.
Sean is an artist-engineer navigating the space between mechanical precision and pataphysical imagination. With a background in engineering and studies at The Glasgow School of Art and Design Academy Eindhoven, his work critically examines humanity’s reliance on technology and its impact on finite planetary resources. Through sculptures and experimental systems, Fisher explores the absurdity of fringe engineering cultures, questioning the intersections of ecology, economics, and time.
