The Bird Experience

On May 29, 2026, The Bird Experience will present their debut album with a lineup of twelve musicians.

The Bird Experience is a music project founded by composer, singer, and harmonica player Mees Vullings (The Bird). Their music blends influences from blues, psychedelia, and jazz. After writing the album, Mees assembled the core lineup in 2025, featuring organist Pedro Croes, guitarist Redmer Kamsma, bassist Dylan van de Grift, drummer Lars Douma, and percussionist Ishmerai Gill. Over the course of four months, they refined the songs, each adding their own musical contributions. The band then recorded a live session at Wisseloord Studios as a preview of the album. Two months later, they self-produced their debut album, with Redmer Kamsma serving as producer. For the recordings, the lineup expanded to twelve members, including a brass section and backing vocalists. Shortly after releasing the live videos, The Bird Experience signed with Radar Agency and secured a record deal with Suburban Records—even before their first live performance. This underscores the band’s ambition and potential.

The self-titled debut album features a diverse repertoire, ranging from blues and funk to more experimental tracks. The harmonica plays a central role in the music, both in powerful and more subtle compositions. The album is characterized by a distinctive and unique sound.
