Amelie Spinks

Amelie Spinks received a grant for the development of her debut EP. In her music, Amelie takes you home with her soft vocals and nostalgic songwriting, influenced by a New Zealand upbringing. A studied upright bass player, her debut EP marks the beginning of Amelie’s intimate singer/songwriter journey. Taking pieces from the kiwi country/folk music scene, she draws from the sentimentality and emotional turmoil of moving away from home. With wistful guitar arpeggios, a gentle voice and poetic melodies, her songs hold a vulnerable power.

Raised in small-town New Zealand, Amelie moved to Amsterdam to continue her passion for jazz and upright bass. Now, after developing her song-writing craft for years, she embarks on a new journey as an indie-folk musician. Inspired by the likes of Adrienne Lenker, Joni Mitchell, John Prine and Aldous Harding, Amelie's music embodies the New Zealand folk music experience.
