Ik wil gewoon mijn moeder terug

Marthe Walter

Marthe Walter received a grant to write her new book. When Marthe slept the first night in her new home, the realization came: my mother no longer knows where I live. For six months they had not spoken to each other. What began with an altercation over fakenews escalated into a divisive conflict over autonomy, geoengineering and corrupt politicians. What if you both believe in a different reality? Can you still find each other then? Around the world, countless families and groups of friends are torn apart by polarization. Whipped up by the media and algorithms, people who loved each other suddenly no longer trust each other. In this book, Marthe talks candidly about how politics crept into her family. How conversations suddenly turned to chemtrails and vaccinations, how coziness was exchanged for alienation, and above all, how she lost one of the most important people in her life: her mother. With an open mind, she examines how it could have come to this. Can Marthe and her mother reconnect?
