In the film Sole, Pamela Kalkman follows young female vice presidential candidate Soledad Nuñez and her team in their struggle against Paraguay’s corrupt rulers during the exciting spring 2023 elections. I follow Nuñez and her team in the run-up to the election; in conversation with voters throughout the country, during debates with her conservative opponents, and during intimate moments with friends and family. What drives her to devote her life to public service? How will she deal with false media coverage? How will she convince disillusioned citizens to vote, and how will she deal with sexism, fraud and threats from the drug mafia?
