Anna Dabrowska received a contribution to develop her film Illuminando: a fascinating documentary that explores the transformation of the Indische Buurt in Amsterdam East over the past decade. The film starts from the colorful Super Sint Maarten Parade, an annual community celebration that forges a temporary alliance between residents of all cultures and backgrounds. The documentary takes you on a journey of discovery through the neighborhood, witnessing the economic and social changes that have shaped and transformed the community. Illuminando goes beyond the festive atmosphere of the parade and explores how the neighborhood evolved into what it is today. It offers an in-depth look at the complexities of gentrification, social change and cultural diversity. The documentary gives a voice to the residents of the Indische Buurt and lets them speak about how they have experienced the changes and how they feel connected to their neighborhood.

Anna Dabrowska, is an independent film director and editor and program producer for Eye Filmmuseum. Born in Poland and raised in Rome, Anna has lost her heart to Amsterdam, where she and her family have lived and worked for more than 10 years. As a filmmaker, Anna combines a strong social interest with a loving and disconcerting gaze. Her work is a fascinating journey of micro-exploration, moving from neighborhood to neighborhood, examining every small reality. What makes Anna's work unique is her ability to combine social research with her strong passion for experimental cinema. This leads to short documentaries that are both socially conscious and aesthetically appealing. Her penchant for the experimental style is particularly evident in the bold editing and rhythm of her films.
