Nadie Borggreve

Nadie Borggreve received a grant for experimenting with a natural dyeing process. Her tapestries are imbued with a deep-seated longing for nature. Her works include compositions of forests, leaves, floral motifs and reflections of stars in lakes. She brings together various elements of wilderness into a controlled, aesthetic experience, similar to the creation of a garden. Floral patterns, laden with meaning, symbolize the complex relationship between man and nature. The use of raw, natural materials is at the heart of Nadie's cyclical and nature-reflective process. Craft techniques, such as tufting, intarsia knitting and a custom dyeing process, are integral elements of her work. Through these, she forges not only visual impressions, but also deep connections to nature and craftsmanship.

Nadie aims to integrate the natural element more deeply into her tapestries, both in image and in the raw material. After extensive research, she has decided to participate in a three-day dyeing course at Taller Tenido a Mano. There she will learn techniques with various natural pigments such as cochineal, indigo, wild marigold, pomegranate and brazilwood. She will then take this acquired knowledge to her studio in Amsterdam to combine it with her existing painting techniques. In this way, she aims to add more depth and meaning to the yarn dyeing process for her handmade wall hangings.
