Half Easy Trio ft. Tamara Lukasheva
Half Easy Trio is an international contemporary jazz trio, founded in 2018 in Rotterdam. The group’s repertoire is based on compositions by drummer Martin Hafizi, which blend elements of classical music, Bulgarian folk traditions, and various strands of jazz. Their instrumentation and musical approach allow for layered sound textures and a dynamic interplay between composition and improvisation. For their concert at Pand P Podium, the trio collaborates with Ukrainian vocalist Tamara Lukasheva, recipient of the WDR Jazz Prize.
In October 2019, the trio released their debut album Dark is Bright on the Dutch label Optomusic. The album was presented at venues such as Bimhuis, De Doelen, TivoliVredenburg, and Paradox. Their second album, One Step Back, Two Steps Forward, was released in May 2023 and features contributions by Tamara Lukasheva. The pieces on this album were written during the COVID-19 pandemic and reflect the ensemble’s musical development during that period. Half Easy Trio has performed in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, and Bulgaria. The group won the Keep an Eye: The Records competition and received a support from the Droom en Daad Foundation.
