Dream Machine
On Sunday, August 31, Dream Machine will be screened at De Balie in Amsterdam. This independent feature film by Mani Nickpour was created over a nine-year period in collaboration with an international community of artists. Shot in the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, France, and Greece, the film weaves together myths from different cultures with contemporary themes of war, guilt, and redemption.
The story follows Nima, a former soldier in Amsterdam haunted by guilt and memories of a war in the Middle East. His quest for redemption leads him to a mysterious Dream Machine, while the ancient battle between Cyrus the Great, Perseus, and the spirit of chaos, Ahriman, continues to reverberate in the present.
After the screening, Mani Nickpour will discuss his creative process and the layered meanings of the film.
