A Songbook of Rare Feelings

Pand P Podium, with the support of Amarte, organised an open call for musicians based in the Netherlands who were not only looking to perform live, but also sought a professional recording of their concert.

About VONK
VONK is an ensemble with a distinctive instrumentation of voice, saxophones, clarinets, and percussion. The core of the ensemble consists of four musicians and one composer, who together explore and develop a characteristic ensemble sound. In their projects, they collaborate with composers, songwriters, poets, and librettists from both the Netherlands and abroad, aiming to give new music and text a contemporary form.

The project A Songbook of Rare Feelings combines poetry and music in a new series of compositions. For this second edition, texts were written by Lisanne van Aert, Liz Berry, and Andrés Cerpa, and new vocal works were composed for VONK, featuring vocalist Sterre Konijn. In addition, two instrumental pieces will premiere. The music was written by composers Christopher Cerrone, Ken Thomson, Aftab Darvishi, Celia Swart, and Nicoline Soeter.
