Motel Bed - A Pillow Princess Fantasy

Pretty Poison Cabaret
9 - 12 Sep 2025

Motel Bed – A Pillow Princess Fantasy will premiere at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival. This multidisciplinary performance is the latest creation by Pretty Poison Cabaret, and is best described as a deconstructed queer cabaret staged in and around a revolving motel bed, where queer fantasies collide with murder mysteries and chaos unravels.

The scenographic centrepiece and performative playground is a turning bed, on which six cabaret performers fluctuate between song, dance, storytelling, and theatre. Through a non-linear structure, the piece explores intimacy, love, desire, and identity. In this performance that bends genres and blurs the line between private and public, audiences are drawn into shifting roles: at times voyeurs, at times participants.

About Pretty Poison Cabaret
Pretty Poison Cabaret is a queer, feminist, and migrant performance project based in Amsterdam. Led by artists Peter Scherrebeck and Karina Villafan, the project explores cabaret as a powerful artistic language and space for interdisciplinary knowledge, critical thinking, and community-building. The project, inspired by Latin American and French cabaret traditions, bridges nightlife with art institutions, galleries, and theatre spaces, and challenges conventional norms and affirms cabaret as a political, sensitive, and collective space.
