Exquisite Corpse
With great pleasure, the ADAM Quartet presents their debut album: Exquisite Corpse.
An Exquisite Corpse is an artwork composed of multiple, seemingly unrelated parts, forming a whole that none of the contributing artists could have conceived alone. Many may know it as the drawing game in which a sheet of paper is folded several times and passed around, but the technique was also popular among Surrealist artists in the 1920s.
A string quartet, like an Exquisite Corpse, is more than the sum of its parts. The individual style and musical taste of each member make it a unique and constantly evolving organism. This album is structured like a ‘classical’ string quartet: a powerful, assertive first movement, a tender second movement, a third movement that makes you want to dance, and a grand finale. With this album, we question some of the unwritten rules of the classical tradition. What if Beethoven’s Cavatina fits beautifully alongside a world premiere?
