A Sea In Common
A Sea In Common is the new project by pianist and composer Yiorgos Bereris. The work originates from impressions and sonic experiences gathered during his travels through the Mediterranean region and the Balkans, as well as from conversations with people for whom movement, searching, and moments of temporary stillness are a constant presence. These experiences form the foundation of a musical approach in which reflection, restraint, and anticipation play a central role.
Yiorgos composes from the framework of a jazz piano trio, expanded with violin and viola. The music operates at the intersection of contemporary jazz, Greek folk traditions, and a cinematic approach to sound and narrativity. A Sea In Common builds on his previous releases Laros (2023) and Sigá y Silente (2024), further developing Yiorgos’ ongoing exploration of the relationship between composition, storytelling, and ensemble sound.
