Het Dramatische Tafereel

Nine theatre professionals present autonomous visual artworks in this multifaceted exhibition, complemented by a public programme and theatrical interventions. The participating artists combine a practice in theatre, as directors, technicians, set designers, actors or writers, with an independent visual art practice. The works on view include paintings, photography, drawings, collages, masks and sculptures.

A shared point of departure within the exhibition is an attention to the performative character of the work and the tension between theatre and visual art. Visitors are invited to engage with diverse artistic worlds in which imagination and narrativity play a central role.

The exhibition features work by visual artist and theatre maker Sarah Jonker. In addition, Janneke Rinzema has written short stories especially for this occasion, which can be experienced through an audio tour. Visitors are kindly requested to bring their own earphones or headphones.
