She Cries

Panida Petchara
30 Jan 2026

She Cries (The Holy Water) is a single-screen moving image work by Panida Petchara that develops from an exhibition context into a cinematic screening. The film moves through layers of memory, folklore, and imagination, linking rain, sea, and tears as recurring motifs. As water shifts form, a sense of homesickness deepens and the experience of time appears to slip.

Set in a state between waking and dreaming, the work brings together four female figures drawn from personal memory and folklore: a girl from a small coastal city, a Thai artist living far from home, a mermaid from Samila Beach, and an ageing grandmother whose memories gradually begin to fade.

The first screening takes place on 30 January at LantarenVenster. Further screenings will follow at Podium Islemunda (theatre hall) and Pathé.
